In a booming economy, the rich are just getting richer.
Taipan Henry Sy is the Philippines' richest man for the sixth year in a row, according to business magazine Forbes.
According to the magazine's August issue, the mall tycoon had an estimated net worth of $12 billion.
The magazine also said the Philippines' 50 richest were worth a combined total of $65.8 billion, or a quarter of the nation's gross domestic product.
Forbes also said a "soaring economy" boosted the holdings of the richest in the country.
Sy's net worth increased by $2.9 billion from last year. Lucio Tan, in 2nd place this year with $7.5 billion in net worth, also saw his holdings jump by $3 billion.
Megaworld’s Andrew Tan, the Aboitiz family and Puregold’s Lucio Co were the biggest movers in the list.
Tan jumped from no. 6 last year to no. 3 in this year’s list, jumping over port and casino tycoon Enrique Razon, the Gokongwei family and DMCI’s David Consunji.
The Aboitiz family and Co joined the Top 10 with the Aboitiz family jumping from 16 to 7 and Co from 13 to 10.
The Forbes list also added 7 newcomers to the list, including Ramon Ang at number 31.
On the other hand, 9 tycoons became "poorer" in 2013 compared to 2012. Eduardo Cojuangco dropped out of the list after selling his San Miguel stake to Ramon Ang.
Roberto Ongpin, who helped Cojuangco and Ang consolidate control over San Miguel and Petron, also dropped out of the list.
